Doula Support – Preparing for Birth

Doula Birth Support

Blossoming Confidence offers a certified Doula service to assist with natural and surgical births.

As a doula, I accompany women in labour to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. I draw on my knowledge and experience as a doula and mother to provide emotional support, physical comfort and, as needed, communication with other caregivers to make sure that you have the information you need to make informed decisions as they arise in labour.

I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner (if present), make suggestions for labour progress, and help with relaxation, massage, positioning and other techniques for comfort. I am independent and self-employed. As your doula, I am working for you, not your caregiver or hospital.

Breastfeeding Support

Breastfeeding is a mother’s first challenge after giving birth. Providing adequate support and encouragement through the critical first weeks is vitally important to building a successful bond.

The role of the doula in early breastfeeding support can also help women reach their goals of a satisfying and successful transition to motherhood. Our goal is to ensure that new moms accomplish their breastfeeding goals with as much support as needed.

Giving Back

I am a certified WOMBs doula, and it gives me great joy to be able to give back. I am affiliated with Packs of Dignity, providing packages of birthing essentials that give less fortunate mothers the basic items that she will need to have a comfortable and dignified birthing experience.

Women should feel empowered before, during and after her baby is born. The lack of even the most basic birth and postpartum items for underprivileged women rob too many of enjoying a comfortable, dignified and empowering experience.

I offer my services at the Hillbrow clinic up to 3 times a week, providing underprivileged women with a free of charge service as they grapple with their journey into motherhood.

My doula service is comprehensive, and allows women to claim back from medical aid once they have given birth.
